Babar Azam has cemented his status as the defining batter of the current era, finishing as the leading run‑scorer in international cricket from 2020 to 2025 across all formats.
According to the data, this six-year window shows Babar Azam sitting alone at the top of the pile with a staggering 8,825 runs, scored in 223 innings across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is combined.
No other player in the world has matched his volume of runs or his consistency across formats over this period, confirming the Pakistan star as the standout run machine of the decade so far.
Close behind him is England’s Joe Root, whose red‑ball dominance keeps him firmly in the conversation. Root has piled up 7,892 runs in 172 innings, a remarkable tally driven largely by his performances in Test cricket.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan is third on the list, showcasing his evolution into a three‑format mainstay with 7,634 runs in 204 innings, reflecting not just his role as a wicketkeeper but as one of Pakistan’s most reliable batters.
Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis follows with 6,571 runs from 201 innings. India is represented twice in the top six: Virat Kohli, still a giant presence in world cricket, has amassed 6,531 runs in 179 innings, while Shubman Gill, the youngest name in this elite group, has scored 6,514 runs in just 165 innings.
For Pakistan, the headline is simple: in an era packed with superstar batters, Babar Azam stands statistically ahead of them all.
His aggregate from 2020 to 2025 not only anchors Pakistan’s batting across formats but also places him at the front of the global run charts for the decade so far.

Excellent record just behind the average of Joe Root
Average just behind in test, in other format one day & T2 far ahead of Joe Root.
Yes this is a misleading stat , Babar played most matches ( despite poor performances in between when others got dropped but he wasn’t) that’s why he is topping the chart.
This is an actually meaningless stat. Babar Azam test average is just 42 nowadays which show he’s not a great batman we all thought he was . Test cricket is a real deal
What about the T20s and ODis average Bro ..??
Whatever it is but baber is toping on this chart
Baber did really well. A light bearer for Pakistan cricket.
Such a misleading stat, this is not what we should do. Babar azam has let us down so many times , despite consistent support, here we are sharing this misleading state without telling the whole story.
He has the highest runs because he played the most amount of innings and never got dropped ( despite average performances).
Had Saud Shakil, Muhammad Rizwan, Fakhar zamany played the same amount of matches/innings, they would have had more numbers. Joe root, Steve smith played lesser innings. Babar azam never got dropped because of blind backing that’s why he’s topping this meaningless chart.
