Pakistan’s Urea Sales Hit New All-Time High In December 2025

Pakistan’s urea sales reached an all-time high of 1.356 million tons in December 2025, driven by strong demand and aggressive discounting by manufacturers, according to a report by Topline Securities.

Sales were up 65 percent month on month and 37 percent year on year, taking total urea offtake for 2025 to 6.73 million tons, a two percent increase compared to last year.

The report noted that urea inventories declined sharply to 0.31 million tons by the end of December, down from 1.13 million tons in November, easing concerns around excess stock levels in the sector.

Among companies, FATIMA Group recorded the highest December sales at 644,000 tons, followed by Engro Fertilizers with 378,000 tons and Fauji Fertilizer Company with 259,000 tons. Engro posted the strongest growth, with sales rising 140 percent month on month.

Topline said heavy discounts, ranging between Rs. 150 and Rs. 400 per bag, played a key role in boosting sales during the month. However, most of these discounts have since been rolled back as inventory pressures eased.

Meanwhile, DAP sales remained weak, with December offtake falling 67 percent month on month to 80,000 tons, reflecting subdued demand and higher prices.

Looking ahead, the report expects urea sales to normalize in 2026 as inventories remain low, reducing the likelihood of further discounting and opening the possibility of exports.
