Govt Introduces New Training Module for Civil Servants

The federal minister for information technology inaugurated an Artificial Intelligence 101 module at the Civil Services Academy, formally introducing artificial intelligence training into the civil services curriculum.

While addressing a special batch of CSS probationers at the academy, the minister said the initiative supports the government’s Digital Nation Vision and aligns with the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, which she described as a framework for governance reform rather than a standalone technology policy.

The special batch included 52 probationary officers from Balochistan and 56 from Sindh. The Ministry of IT and Telecom developed the AI module in collaboration with the Planning Commission, the Civil Services Academy, and atomcamp.

The minister said the National Artificial Intelligence Policy prioritizes building human capacity within government institutions. She said the new training aims to equip future civil servants with the skills needed to use emerging technologies responsibly and effectively.

Under the initiative, authorities conducted a two-day intensive training program for 150 probationary officers. The program covered AI fundamentals, prompt engineering, administrative and research applications, productivity tools, and ethical considerations.

Organizers also completed a training-of-trainers program, preparing 30 faculty members from civil service training institutions as master trainers.

The minister announced that the academy has permanently added AI training to its curriculum, making it mandatory for all future civil service batches. She also said the government plans to expand its partnership with atomcamp to introduce advanced AI modules.
