Former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie is set to take up a coaching role with a Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise.
According to reports, discussions between Gillespie and the franchise’s management have been successfully concluded. An agreement is now in place, with only the official announcement remaining.
The name of the PSL franchise Gillespie will be joining has not yet been disclosed and is expected to be revealed soon.
Jason Gillespie, a former Australian international fast bowler, has an extensive coaching background, including roles in county cricket and domestic leagues.
He was appointed head coach of the Pakistan men’s Test team in April 2024 by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) but stepped down in December 2024 amid disagreements over management decisions and internal communication issues.
During his tenure with Pakistan, Gillespie also briefly took charge of the limited-overs side on an interim basis following Gary Kirsten’s departure in 2024.
Gillespie’s time with Pakistan was marked by behind-the-scenes tensions, with the coach publicly criticizing the PCB for communication breakdowns and decision-making processes that he described as poorly handled.
The Pakistan Super League, launched by the Pakistan Cricket Board in 2016, is one of the leading T20 leagues globally and regularly features top international and domestic players. The league has previously attracted high-profile overseas coaches and support staff.
