Enforcement teams of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out strict operations across Lahore on Tuesday, destroying large quantities of substandard and adulterated food items and arresting those involved.
During the crackdown, authorities discarded 7,250 kilograms of diseased chicken, more than one maund of adulterated milk, and other prohibited items. An FIR was registered, and the accused were taken into custody.
Food safety teams established early-morning checkpoints at Tollinton Market, where they inspected 64 suppliers and shops.
Officials examined 132,000 kilograms of poultry to ensure compliance with meat safety standard operating procedures (SOPs).
PFA Director General Asim Javaid said a dairy shop in Sabzazar was sealed after laboratory tests confirmed milk adulteration.
He stated that the contaminated milk was immediately destroyed, while legal action was initiated, and the shop owner was arrested on the spot.
The PFA reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against food adulteration and warned traders that strict action would continue to protect public health.
