The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked more than 100 fake and phishing websites that were illegally collecting online payments by misusing the name and logo of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA).
The action followed a report from PSCA, which identified the fraudulent websites and recommended them to the PTA for immediate blocking.
A PSCA spokesperson said the websites were targeting citizens under the pretext of e-challan payments, deliberately misleading the public while carrying out fraudulent financial activities. The spokesperson urged citizens not to make payments on unverified, suspicious, or unofficial sites.
For safe and verified e-challan payments, the PSCA advised using only its official website (echallan.psca.gop.pk) or the Public Safety App.
The spokesperson added that legal actions against individuals and groups creating fake Safe City websites have been expanded, reflecting a zero-tolerance policy to protect citizens’ finances.
