Google has introduced a new feature in Google Photos that enables users to create personalized memes using generative AI.
The feature, called Me Meme, lets users place themselves at the center of meme templates. At launch, the feature is available only in the US.
Me Meme uses generative AI to produce customized, humorous memes based on user-selected templates. Google Photos includes a built-in template gallery, but users can also upload their own meme images to use as templates.
To create a meme, users need to select a photo of themselves and pair it with a chosen template.
Users can access the feature by opening the Google Photos app, tapping Create at the bottom of the screen, and selecting Me Meme. From there, they choose a template, tap Add photo, select an image, and then tap Generate.
Once generated, the meme can be saved, regenerated, or shared directly from the app.
Google has not announced when Me Meme will roll out to regions outside the US. The company also has not shared details on whether additional customization options will be added in future updates.
For now, Me Meme represents one of the most playful additions to Google Photos in recent years, combining generative AI with personal content creation.
