Don’t Use This Injection to Treat Vitamin B12 Deficiency

The Directorate of Drugs Control, Punjab, has issued a most urgent recall alert, ordering the immediate suspension of the sale and use of specific batches of Injection SATAMIN after they were declared substandard and adulterated.

In an official notification, the Directorate directed all retailers, wholesalers, and distributors to stop dispensing the affected injections immediately. Stakeholders have also been instructed to promptly inform their respective area drug inspectors about existing stock levels and consumption records.

According to the statement, the Drug Testing Laboratories Punjab flagged the medicine as substandard, following which the Provincial Quality Control Board ordered its immediate recall from the market to protect public health.

Recalled SATAMIN Injection Batches

The recall applies to the following batches of Injection SATAMIN (mecobalamin JP 500 mcg), Reg No: 071284:

  • Batch No MC24-022 – Expiry: July 2026
  • Batch No MC24-023 – Expiry: June 2026
  • Batch No MC24-026 – Expiry: July 2026
  • Batch No MC25-001 – Expiry: July 2027

The Drugs Control Directorate has also instructed the manufacturer to ensure the complete withdrawal of the affected batches from the market and warned that strict compliance with the recall order is mandatory.

Authorities emphasized that the action aims to safeguard public health and prevent the use of compromised pharmaceutical products.
