Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam broke another major T20I record on Sunday, surpassing India great Virat Kohli to become the leading half-century scorer in men’s T20 Internationals.
The 31-year-old reached the milestone during Pakistan’s third T20I against Australia, scoring an unbeaten 50 off 36 balls, including three fours and one six. This was Babar’s 39th half-century in T20Is, moving him ahead of Kohli, who ended his limited-overs career in 2024 with 38 T20I fifties.

Babar is also the leading run-scorer in men’s T20Is, with 4,505 runs in 132 innings at an average of 39.51 and a strike rate of 128.38. He has also scored three centuries in the format.
Babar’s half-century helped Pakistan score 207 runs in 20 overs against Australia. In response, Australia were bowled out for just 96 in 16.5 overs, suffering a crushing 111-run defeat, their biggest loss by runs in T20I history.
For Pakistan, Mohammad Nawaz delivered a standout performance, claiming five wickets while conceding just 19 runs in his four overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi also picked up two wickets.
The victory sealed a 3-0 T20I series whitewash for Pakistan, providing a timely confidence boost ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.
