Lahore Reimposes Ban on Kite Flying After Basant Festival

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has announced that the Basant festival has officially ended and kite flying is no longer allowed.

She warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found flying kites and urged parents to closely monitor their children.

Speaking on the conclusion of Basant, Azma Bukhari thanked the people of Lahore, the wider Pakistani public, and overseas Pakistanis for celebrating the festival in a safe and responsible manner. She said the public’s cooperation made the event successful and peaceful.

She also expressed gratitude to foreign guests and diplomats who visited Lahore during Basant. According to her, Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, has won the hearts of the people of Lahore and across Pakistan by ensuring a safe Basant.

She added that Lahoris deserve congratulations for celebrating the festival responsibly.

Azma Bukhari said that Basant was celebrated in a successful and safe way, with visitors coming from the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East to take part in the festivities. She noted that citizens followed government standard operating procedures (SOPs) and official guidelines with full responsibility.

Praising the administration, she said police, rescue services, district authorities, and other institutions performed their duties with dedication to ensure public safety during Basant.

She further stated that Pakistanis have supported development, prosperity, and peace, and those trying to weaken the country have faced the consequences of their actions.
