KP Makes Private School Registration Mandatory

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Education Department has made it compulsory for all unregistered private schools in the province to register with the Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA).

A notification issued to the chairpersons of all educational boards stated that unregistered private schools will not be allowed to enroll students in board examinations. Schools operating without registration will be forced to shut down.

According to the department, registration under the KP Private Schools Regulatory Authority Act is mandatory. Currently, 11,887 private schools in the province are registered.

The notification highlighted that the lack of registration makes it difficult to maintain accurate records of students outside schools. Under the Act, schools cannot open or operate without proper registration.
