Peshawar Zalmi on Tuesday announced Australian all-rounder Aaron Hardie as the replacement for Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz ahead of the historic 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The franchise confirmed the signing on its official social media account, stating: “After much anticipation, we are proud to announce Australian all-rounder Aaron Hardie as our direct signing for PSL 11. A proven match-winner, Hardie brings balance, power, and versatility to the squad.”

Hardie, 27, brings strong experience in short-format cricket. He has represented Perth Scorchers in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), scoring 1,499 runs and taking 38 wickets in 73 appearances. He has also featured in Major League Cricket (MLC), adding further T20 experience to his resume.
Gurbaz had originally signed with Peshawar Zalmi on February 5, with a promotional graphic showing him wearing a traditional turban against a mountainous backdrop. The franchise did not disclose the signing amount.
However, the Afghanistan international later announced his withdrawal from the tournament in a video shared on social media, speaking in his native Pashto.
“Salam everyone, fans from everywhere. After the World Cup, I won’t be available for the PSL this season due to my schedule. I’ll be focusing more on my foundation work in Afghanistan. Thank you for all the love and support,” Gurbaz said.
In a separate development, Peshawar Zalmi also confirmed the appointment of Michael Yardy as the team’s spin bowling and fielding coach ahead of the new PSL season.
Yardy is a former England international who played in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Since retiring from professional cricket, he has moved into coaching roles at domestic and youth levels.
His experience in elite cricket and coaching depth is expected to bolster the franchise’s support staff in PSL 11.
