Karachi traffic police have decided to convert Saddar Market into a fully car-free pedestrian street as part of new measures to reduce traffic congestion in the city.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the DIG Traffic, which focused on addressing parking and traffic problems during Ramadan. To further ease traffic pressure, loading and unloading vehicles will not be allowed to enter the Saddar zone between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Authorities also decided to activate and improve parking facilities in markets to make them more efficient. Illegal parking will not be allowed.
During the meeting, officials agreed to take legal action against professional beggars at traffic signals. Lifter officers will be deployed with body-worn cameras. It was also decided that encroachments will be removed and additional personnel will be deployed to manage traffic flow.
Karachi, where many areas now resemble densely populated towns, continues to face worsening traffic conditions. Residents across the city are increasingly frustrated by severe traffic jams. Ongoing development work and damaged roads have added to the difficulties faced by the public.
Long lines of vehicles were seen around Saddar, M.A. Jinnah Road, and the Old City area. Heavy traffic pressure was also reported at Fawara Chowk, Zeb-un-Nisa Street, and around Metropole.
Congestion was also observed on I.I. Chundrigar Road, Bolton Market, Tower, and Mauripur Road. Traffic flow remained slow at several points along Shahrah-e-Faisal.
Severe traffic conditions were reported in Defense and on the Qayyumabad KPT Bridge. Long vehicle queues formed around FTC, Nursery, and Baloch Colony.
Traffic jams were also reported near National Stadium Karachi, Hassan Square, and Isa Nagri. Banaras Chowk and Habib Bank Chowrangi experienced heavy traffic pressure. Traffic movement also remained slow in Liaquatabad, Teen Hatti, and Jahangir Road, where even short distances took a long time to travel.

In Saddar there is one parking plaza which is far from commercial market
Where exactly in busy area is the parking facility available by Govt.
FIA, Passport office are in same area no official parking space alloted, same mobile market, coperative market busy road occupied and congession
If no parking space then why is the govt. Taking action again illegal parking
Can you specific where its legal to park if no space alloted for legal parking
Not to mention garbage collection at its worse. Even main roads are littered with it, leave alone lanes and streets.
First of all ,allocate oneside of the road for parking. Now proceed with your plan.facilitate the people and then enforce the law.
Please provide pedestrian pavement on all roads particularly in commercial areas of each and every town. And Can you please remove encroachments whether mobile or fixed such as huge generators from existing pedestrian pavement. And also ensure that pedestrian can walk safely and freely with no danger from two wheeler or more taking ride on pavement. Second step of all UCs responsible not to allow parking on the right side of road beside island which is now common in most of the commercial areas roads all over Karachi. We see this happening in sri lanka and many big cities in africa. Also island between road should never be allowed for business such as fruit and carts. Let’s have good governance free from mafia which has taken over the city mostly in all sphere making life miserable for Allah fearing and law abiding citizen. Please come out of political gains and advantage and ensure rule of law by starting few simple and easy to mange things in day to day life as highlighted.

Most of the shopkeepers encroach upon roads and footpaths thus shrinking the width of the streets and roads. Police take bribe money instead of removing all those who are doing business from Government property. Mobile carts selling vegetables and fruits also do business from Government property. They pay bribe money to the police. District Central in Karachi is the worst affected
My new vehicle about to get destroyed due to these damaged roads ..

Improve roads condition, stop wrong way traffic, and increase parking areas.
Karachi is poorly managed as a metropolis. Civic facilities are in bad shape. Even people are not aware of their rights and responsibilities.
Here no one knows that where is a parking are, even in parking area people fear that their cars can be challaned or lifted. Very difficult to travel with own car
Parking of car or motorcycle should NOT be allowed on main roads. Parked cars and motorcycles are the main reason of traffic congestion since they take up most of the space on main roads.
better title would have been: Karachi traffic police to become brain free.
It will resolve 70% of current traffic headache.

Repairs damage roads fastly
Proposal to make saddar traffic free zone, question arise about approach to other areas through Saddar roads. Will it resolve traffic congestion or will increase pressure on other nearby roads?
Instead of controlling traffic, they have found the scape goat of banding the vehicles entry. They deserve more in Ramadan and most of them are found in restaurants illegally operating.
Need free public six seaters from parking plaza to zainab market.
