The Punjab government has approved a modern facilitation center at Benazir Bhutto General Hospital in Rawalpindi and announced that doctors will start kidney transplant services in the city by the end of March. Authorities also inaugurated a newly constructed hall at the hospital on Monday.
The government has already set up facilitation centers at Holy Family Hospital and Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology. Officials introduced an automated system in public hospitals across Punjab and said they aim to end the culture of recommendations and protocol within six months.
At the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, officials are completing a new facilitation center and OPD block during the current fiscal year. The OPD treats more than 4,000 patients daily. The administration has established a new Urology Department, renovated the ENT OPD block, and made a modern emergency block operational. Hospitals have also launched a home delivery system for medicines.
Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and Rawalpindi Medical University Vice Chancellor Dr Umar inaugurated the new hall and facilities.
Officials said they will soon introduce liver transplant services. The government has installed modern ventilators, MRI machines and modular operation theaters in hospitals across Punjab and has started preparations for a state-of-the-art Children’s Hospital in Rawalpindi to provide free treatment for newborns, children and maternity patients.
