Umrah Ticket Prices Jump as Ramadan Begins

Domestic and international airlines sharply increased ticket prices at the start of Ramadan, raising business class fares to Rs. 500,000 and pushing economy and economy plus tickets to between Rs. 180,000 and Rs. 200,000.

As the first 10 days of the holy month began, the number of Umrah pilgrims increased as expected. Airlines responded to the surge in demand by raising ticket prices.

Every year, millions travel for Umrah, and the number of pilgrims typically grows further during the second and third 10-day periods of Ramadan.

Previously, economy and economy plus tickets were priced between Rs. 130,000 and Rs. 140,000. They have now jumped to between Rs. 180,000 and Rs. 200,000. Business class fares, which earlier ranged from Rs. 440,000 to Rs. 450,000, have now reached Rs. 500,000.

Travel agents said the increase is driven by demand, explaining that fares typically rise during festivals and busy seasons. They noted that most flights are fully booked, and airlines raise prices on the remaining seats accordingly.

The higher prices have placed a financial strain on pilgrims, forcing many to reconsider their travel plans for Umrah.
