Major Progress Made on Rawalpindi Kutchery Chowk Project

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Abdul Aamer Khattak on Tuesday directed the Punjab Communication and Works Department and the Frontier Works Organization to speed up work on the Kutchery Chowk remodeling project to meet the April 30 deadline.

The commissioner visited the project site with FWO officials to review construction progress. Engineers, contractors, and officers from the concerned departments briefed him during the visit. They informed him that crews are working in double shifts and have completed more than 64 percent of the overall project.

Work at Kutchery Intersection has reached 64 percent completion, Iftikhar Janjua Chowk stands at 65 percent, and Annexy Chowk has achieved 62 percent progress. Authorities launched the project in November 2025 with an 18 month timeline, but they are expediting construction to minimize public inconvenience.

The project forms part of the Rawalpindi Signal Free Corridor initiative. It includes dual flyovers and an underpass at Jinnah Park and Kutchery Chowk, along with an underpass at Iftikhar Janjua Chowk.

The commissioner instructed officials to strictly implement the traffic management plan during construction to reduce disruption. He emphasized that departments must meet the deadline and maintain construction quality without compromise.

  • Height of irresponsible-ness is to post Faizabad instead of confirming according to the topic. I haven’t even bothered to read the article. Can well imagine how misleading it can be.
