The Punjab government has finalized a major luxury vehicle procurement plan for ministers, bureaucrats, and VIPs for the current fiscal year.
According to officials, a total of 108 new vehicles will be purchased at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.14 billion.
The Transport Wing has submitted detailed recommendations for the cabinet’s approval. For the Punjab Cabinet, 28 new vehicles have been proposed at a cost of Rs. 300 million.
These include one Land Cruiser, two Haval 1.5 vehicles, five Grand Altis cars, 10 Toyota Altis vehicles, and 10 Toyota Yaris cars, as listed in official documents.
In addition, two bulletproof four-by-four vehicles worth Rs. 40 million have been approved for two ministers. The government has already granted permission for their purchase.
For VIP security, recommendations for 25 vehicles costing Rs. 270 million have also been approved.
According to the documents, vehicles worth Rs. 530 million will be purchased for the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team. These include 30 double-cabin vehicles, 11 Toyota Yaris cars, three Toyota Altis vehicles, Suzuki Cultus cars, and motorcycles.
Officials said that once final approval of the recommendations is completed, the procurement process will begin.
