FBR Chairman Forms Committee to Address Super Tax and Sales Tax Filing Issues

Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Rashid Mahmood Langrial, on Friday announced the formation of a committee to examine issues raised by tax bar associations, particularly regarding the recovery of Super Tax and sales tax return filing under SRO 350(I)/2024.

Chairman FBR chaired a meeting at FBR Headquarters with representatives from the Pakistan Tax Bar Association, Lahore Tax Bar Association, Karachi Tax Bar Association, and Rawalpindi–Islamabad Tax Bar Association. Members of the Tax Bar Associations highlighted the challenges faced by taxpayers, especially concerning Super Tax and sales tax return filing under SRO 350(I)/2024, dated March 7, 2024.

Assuring the participants of the FBR’s commitment, Chairman Langrial stated that the board is dedicated to providing maximum facilitation to taxpayers and addressing genuine concerns as a priority. He announced the formation of a committee tasked with examining the issues raised by the Tax Bar and recommending practical solutions for prompt resolution.

The meeting was attended by Member (IR Operations), Member (IR Policy), and Member (IR Legal), who participated in detailed discussions.

Chairman FBR also acknowledged the positive and consultative role of the Tax Bar Associations, noting that their deep understanding of Pakistan’s taxation system makes their input invaluable for policy refinement, system improvement, and promotion of voluntary compliance.

Prominent representatives at the meeting included Rana Munir Hussain, Patron, Pakistan Tax Bar Association; Sheikh Ahsan-ul-Haq, President, Pakistan Tax Bar Association; Muhammad Asif Rana, President, Lahore Tax Bar Association; Chaudhary Qamar-uz-Zaman, Former President, Lahore Tax Bar Association; Sheikh Muhammad Yasin, Senior Vice President, Pakistan Tax Bar Association; Tahir Mahmood Butt, General Secretary, Pakistan Tax Bar Association; Mian Asad Hanif, General Secretary, Lahore Tax Bar Association; Faraz Fazal Sheikh, Senior Vice President, Pakistan Tax Bar Association; and Muhammad Mahmood Bikiya, President, Karachi Tax Bar Association.
