The federal government on Sunday increased the price of high-speed diesel by Rs. 5.16 per litre, while increasing petrol prices by Rs. 8 per litre for the next 15 days, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division.
The revised prices will take effect from March 1 (today), 2026, following recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority. The increase comes as tensions in the Middle East pushed commodity markets into a state of panic. The United States and Israel on Saturday commenced a joint attack on Iran, which could push domestic petroleum rates even higher.
Under the new rates, the price of high speed diesel has been fixed at Rs. 280.86 per litre, up from the previous Rs. 275.7 per litre.
The government has also decided to increase the price of motor spirit to Rs. 266.17 per litre for the upcoming fortnight.
The notification said the revised prices will remain in force for the next 15 days, after which they will be reviewed again in line with prevailing market conditions.
