Pakistan’s Inflation Rises to Highest Level Since October 2024

Pakistan’s annual inflation increased by 7 percent on a year-on-year (YoY) basis in February 2026 as compared to 5.8 percent in the previous month and 1.5 percent in February 2025, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

According to Arif Habib Limited, this is the highest inflation since October 2024.

On a month-on-month basis, it rose by 0.3 percent in February 2026, compared to an increase of 0.2 percent in the previous month and a decrease of 0.7 percent in February 2025.

CPI inflation in rural areas increased by 7.3 percent YoY in February 2026, compared to 5.8 percent in the previous month and 1.1 percent in February 2025. On a month-on-month basis, it rose by 0.3 percent in February 2026, compared to an increase of 0.6 percent in the previous month and a decrease of 1.1 percent in February 2025.

SPI inflation increased by 4.8 percent YoY in February 2026, compared to 3.3 percent in the previous month and a decline of 0.2 percent in February 2025. On a month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.1 percent in February 2026, compared to a decline of 0.8 percent in January 2026 and a decrease of 1.6% in February 2025.

WPI inflation rose by 1.0 percent YoY in February 2026, compared to an increase of 0.2 percent in the previous month and a decrease of 0.7 percent in February 2025. On a month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.7 percent in February 2026, compared to a decline of 0.2 percent in the previous month and a decrease of 0.2 percent in February 2025.

Core Inflation (NFNE)

Core inflation, measured by the Non-Food Non-Energy (NFNE) index for urban areas, in percent% in the previous month and 7.8 percent in February 2025. On a month-on-month basis, it rose by 0.2 percent in February 2026, compared to an increase of 1.0 percent in the previous month and 0.3 percent in February 2025.

Core inflation, measured by NFNE in rural areas, remained stable at 8.3 percent YoY in February 2026, unchanged from the previous month, and compared to 10.4 percent in February 2025. On a month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.4 percent in February 2026, compared to 1.1 percent in the previous month and 0.4 percent in February 2025.

Core Inflation (Trimmed)

Core inflation, measured by the 20 percent weighted trimmed mean for urban areas, increased by 5.1 percent YoY in February 2026, compared to 4.9 percent in the previous month and 4.6 percent in February 2025. On a month-on-month basis, it rose by 0.2 percent in February 2026, compared to an increase of 0.5 percent a month earlier and 0.1 percent in February 2025.

Core inflation, measured by the 20 percent weighted trimmed mean for rural areas, increased by 5.6 percent YoY in February 2026, compared to 5.4 percent in the previous month and 5.2 percent in February 2025. On a month-on-month basis, it rose by 0.3 percent in February 2026, compared to an increase of 0.7 percent in the previous month and 0.1 percent in February 2025.
