Pakistan has sufficient stocks of ghee and edible oil to meet domestic demand for the next two months despite rising geopolitical tensions and potential supply chain disruptions, industry representatives said.
Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) Chairman Sheikh Umer Rehan said the country’s supply of ghee and edible oil remains stable and secure despite the uncertain regional environment following the US-Iran conflict.
He stated that Pakistan currently holds adequate reserves of both ghee and edible oil to meet national consumption requirements.
“Pakistan will not face any shortage of ghee or edible oil,” Rehan said, emphasizing that the industry is fully prepared to maintain a smooth supply in the market.
He added that local manufacturers currently have sufficient supplies of both raw materials and finished products. Several import consignments are also underway, which will further strengthen the supply situation in the country.
Rehan said multiple shipments of edible oil and oilseeds are currently en route to Pakistan through maritime routes. These consignments are expected to arrive at various ports across the country according to their scheduled timelines.
After arrival, the shipments will be promptly supplied to local industries and distributed in the market, he added.
