The European Parliament has approved the creation of the EU Talent Pool, a digital platform designed to help companies recruit skilled workers from outside the European Union.
Lawmakers backed the proposal with 414 votes in favor, 182 against, and 21 abstentions.
The platform will allow employers in participating EU countries to match job vacancies with non-EU jobseekers, particularly in sectors facing labor shortages. Registration on the platform will be free for both employers and applicants.
Under the plan, jobseekers can create profiles highlighting their skills, qualifications, and work preferences, which employers can access during recruitment.
EU countries may also accelerate immigration procedures for candidates selected through the platform. However, final decisions on work and residence permits will remain with individual member states and will still require standard immigration and security checks.
The regulation must still receive formal approval from the EU Council before it enters into force.
