The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has directed universities and degree awarding institutions across Pakistan to fully implement austerity measures announced under the prime minister’s directive on national resource conservation.
In a compliance notice issued to universities and degree awarding institutions, the commission stated that several institutions had failed to implement the mandated measures despite clear instructions.
HEC reiterated that the directives are mandatory and must be implemented with immediate effect. According to the notice, universities and degree awarding institutions are required to shift to 100 percent online classes, adopt a four-day workweek and implement work-from-home arrangements.
The commission emphasized that these measures are not optional and all institutions must ensure immediate and complete compliance.
HEC also warned that failure to implement the directives undermines national resource conservation efforts and may result in strict disciplinary action. Universities and degree awarding institutions have been instructed to follow the measures fully and ensure compliance in both letter and spirit.
