Punjab Sets Tuck Shops at Bus Stops to Support Women

The Punjab Transport Company has released a progress report on the establishment of tuck shops at bus stops under its Empower Project, aimed at supporting women’s economic participation and improving urban facilities.

According to the report, the tuck shops will be operated by deserving women, with the opportunity being facilitated through the Akhuwat Foundation.

Three Phases of the Project Completed

The project has been implemented in phases. The first phase was completed in December last year, during which 10 tuck shops were constructed.

In February this year, 11 additional shops were completed. The third phase, completed in March, added another 11 shops.

With these additions, a total of 32 tuck shops have now been established and are operational at various bus stops across the city.

Facilities Installed for Public Convenience

Authorities have also installed Wi-Fi services and security cameras at the bus stops where the ticket shops are located to enhance convenience and safety for commuters.

Promoting Women’s Economic Empowerment

Officials said the project aims to support women, promote economic independence, and improve public facilities at urban transport points.

The initiative is expected to provide business opportunities for women while also improving services and amenities at bus stops for city residents.
