CDA Orders to Replace Old Billboards With Fully All-Digital Ads

The Capital Development Authority has issued formal notices to billboard and advertising board owners, directing them to immediately remove existing structures across the city as part of a shift toward electronic advertising.

According to officials, the decision follows a recent board meeting aimed at modernizing Islamabad’s advertising infrastructure while addressing concerns related to urban aesthetics, public safety, and traffic visibility.

Under the new plan, conventional billboards will be gradually phased out and replaced with electronic advertising boards, marking a broader push toward digital solutions and a more standardized advertising environment.

The authority said notices have been served to all board owners and advertising companies, warning that strict action will be taken against those who fail to comply within the given timeframe.

Enforcement teams are expected to begin inspections shortly, and unauthorized or non compliant structures may be dismantled without further notice.

CDA officials added that fresh guidelines for electronic boards will soon be issued, covering installation standards, approved locations, and operational requirements, with the aim of improving the city’s visual landscape and promoting regulated digital advertising.

  • I was expecting their permanent removal because they can cause distraction to drivers.
