Hyderabad Kingsmen opener Saim Ayub reached a major milestone, completing 1,000 runs in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history.
The 23-year-old achieved the feat during Kingsmen’s third PSL 11 match against 2021 champions Multan Sultans at Gaddafi Stadium. Ayub brought up the milestone by hitting Shehzad Gul for a boundary on the first delivery of the innings.
With this achievement, he became the 28th batter to cross the 1,000-run mark in the league, joining established names such as Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, and Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Although Saim Ayub is the first Kingsmen batter to reach the milestone, the majority of his runs, 860, were scored while representing Peshawar Zalmi over three seasons from 2023 to 2025.
He made his PSL debut with Quetta Gladiators in the 2021 edition, where he scored 114 runs in seven innings at an average of 16.28 and a strike rate of 108.57.
In addition to his batting, Ayub has also contributed with the ball, claiming 14 wickets in PSL history at an average of 30.42 and an economy rate of 7.88.
At the time of reporting, the left-handed opener was unbeaten on 13, taking his total PSL runs to 1,012 in his 44th match in the tournament.
Saim Ayub’s all-round abilities made him the most expensive local player in PSL history, as he was signed directly by the Kingsmen for Rs, 126 million ahead of the league’s first-ever players’ auction last month.
However, he has yet to justify his price tag this season, scoring 17 in the Kingsmen’s opening match against Lahore Qalandars and just eight against Quetta Gladiators in the following game.
