Govt Transfers Rs. 1.2 Billion Fuel Subsidy to 32,000 People via Digital Wallets

The federal government has disbursed Rs. 1.2 billion digitally in the first batch of fuel relief payments to more than 32,000 beneficiaries under the PM Fuel Package 2026, including operators of buses, trucks, long-haul vehicles, and delivery vans, as reported by Dawn.

The payment was made through Easypaisa, enabling what officials described as a fast, secure, and transparent transfer of financial assistance to eligible citizens across the country.

According to the statement, easypaisa is the first digital wallet facilitating transfers to truck operators, with the next phase expected to extend support to tank lorries, buses, and motorcycles.

The initiative is aimed at providing relief amid rising fuel costs, with the digital wallet system allowing real-time transfers directly to beneficiaries while reducing reliance on traditional cash-based disbursement systems.

Jahanzeb Khan, President and Chief Executive Officer of easypaisa digital bank, said the platform was honored to partner with the government in delivering timely financial relief.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja said digital payments are a key pillar of Pakistan’s modern financial system, supporting transparency, efficiency, and financial inclusion at scale. With over 59 million registered users and a wide agent network across urban and rural areas, Easypaisa said it continues to support large-scale government-to-person payments
