Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a detailed traffic diversion plan for April 9 and 10 due to the arrival of foreign delegations in the federal capital.
An ITP official said commuters should use alternate routes as diversions will be enforced at different points across the city during specified timings.
Traffic from GT Road Peshawar heading towards Rawalpindi will be diverted via Taxila Motorway, Chakri, Chak Beli Road and Rawat. Similarly, traffic from Lahore GT Road towards Peshawar has been advised to use Rawat, Chak Beli Road, Chakri and Taxila Motorway.
Vehicles from Margalla Road in F-5 and F-6 sectors heading towards Rawalpindi will be diverted to 9th Avenue, while traffic from Faisal Avenue towards Zero Point will also be redirected to 9th Avenue.
Commuters traveling from Bhara Kahu towards Rawalpindi have been advised to use Ring Road and Bani Gala Road. Traffic from Rawalpindi to Islamabad via Saddar Murree Road will be diverted to 9th Avenue.
Authorities said traffic on the Expressway from Zero Point and Faisal Avenue to Koral Chowk will remain closed during specified timings.
Vehicles coming from Colonel Sher Khan Road towards Faizabad will be routed through Stadium Road via the 9th Avenue signal.
Heavy traffic from Peshawar to Lahore will be diverted via Taxila Motorway and Tarnol Phatak to Fateh Jang Motorway, while traffic from Lahore GT Road towards Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be routed through Chak Beli Road and Chakri Motorway.
The official added that entry of all types of heavy traffic into Islamabad will remain banned till April 10, while movement to and from the Red Zone will remain completely restricted for the general public.
