Islamabad United Thump Defending Champions Lahore Qalandars in One-Sided PSL 11 Clash

Islamabad United outclassed defending champions Lahore Qalandars by nine wickets in a one-sided 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) contest at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi, registering their third win of the tournament.

Chasing a modest 101-run target, United barely broke a sweat and wrapped up the match in the 11th over, with Devon Conway leading the charge through an unbeaten half-century.

Islamabad did lose an early wicket when Sameer Minhas fell for five after being removed by Shaheen Afridi in the third over. But that was about the only moment Lahore had to celebrate in the chase.

Conway and Mohammad Faiq quickly took control, putting together a fluent partnership that knocked the wind out of Qalandars’ defence. The pair brought up the 50-run stand with ease and kept the scoreboard moving at a brisk pace.

Conway was the standout performer with a superb 59 not out off 35 balls, laced with seven fours and three sixes. Faiq played the perfect supporting hand, remaining unbeaten on 34 off 19 deliveries with six boundaries, as Islamabad strolled to victory.

Earlier, Lahore Qalandars never really recovered after a disastrous start with the bat and were bowled out for just 100 in 18.3 overs.

Imad Wasim set the tone immediately by dismissing Mohammad Naeem for a first-ball duck, and he struck again later to remove Abdullah Shafique after Lahore had attempted to rebuild through a brief stand with Haseebullah Khan.

Islamabad’s spinners then tightened the screws. Chris Green bowled Haseebullah for 19 and later removed Ryan Burl and Sikandar Raza, who top-scored with 25 off 19 balls. Shadab Khan also made key breakthroughs, including the wickets of Rubin Hermann and Asif Ali, as Lahore slipped deeper into trouble.

Lower down the order, Richard Gleeson dismissed Haris Rauf and Ubaid Shah, while Faheem Ashraf accounted for Shaheen Afridi to bring the innings to an end.

Green was the pick of the bowlers for Islamabad with 3 for 19 in four overs, while Imad, Shadab, and Gleeson claimed two wickets each in a clinical bowling effort.

The emphatic result gave Islamabad another early boost in PSL 11, while Lahore were left to reflect on a batting collapse that never allowed them to put up a real fight.
