The likely venues for Pakistan’s upcoming two-match Test series in Bangladesh have started to emerge, with Sylhet and Mirpur expected to host the matches in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.
While the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has yet to make an official announcement, sources indicate that the first Test, provisionally scheduled for May 8, is likely to be held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
The venue is understood to have been chosen in principle because of its bouncy and seam-friendly pitch, which is seen as different from the slower, spin-heavy surfaces more commonly associated with the subcontinent.
That could make Sylhet a significant tactical choice for Bangladesh as it prepares to face Pakistan in the opening match of the series.
The second Test, which is expected to begin on May 16, is likely to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.
Although the venues are still awaiting formal confirmation, the expected split already gives an early indication of how Bangladesh may be looking to shape the series through conditions.
Pakistan are scheduled to depart for Dhaka on the night of May 4, shortly after the conclusion of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) final.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already begun preparations for the longer format by launching a 13-day red-ball camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
The camp features 18 players and includes intensive training, skill-based sessions, and two 90-over practice matches, as Pakistan starts laying the groundwork for the upcoming red-ball season.
