PTA Warns Mobile Users: Update CNIC or Risk SIM Blockage

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an important notice for mobile users regarding the validity of their mobile connections.

According to the PTA, users must ensure that their SIM cards are registered with a valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). SIM cards linked to expired or canceled CNICs are at risk of being blocked, which could disrupt mobile services.

The authority has also warned that SIM cards registered under the names of deceased individuals may lead to legal action. Users are advised to update their CNICs immediately to avoid any disruption in service. Failure to renew the CNIC may result in the blocking of the SIM card, significantly affecting communication.

In addition, the PTA has directed users to verify their information with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to ensure that their records are accurate. This step is aimed at maintaining the integrity of the telecom system and preventing fraud or misuse.

The PTA said these measures are part of ongoing efforts to ensure a secure and reliable telecommunications system. Users are encouraged to take prompt action to update their CNIC details and avoid service interruptions.

The authority reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and dependable telecom network across the country.
