Saudi Arabia Bans Entry to Makkah Without Hajj Permit

Saudi Arabia has banned expatriates without official permits from entering Makkah starting April 13, as part of strict measures for the upcoming Hajj season.

According to the Ministry of Interior, Saudi Arabia, only individuals holding a valid Hajj permit, a Makkah-issued residency permit (iqama), or an authorized work permit for the holy sites will be allowed entry.

Authorities will turn back all others at security checkpoints.

The move falls under the “No Hajj without a permit” policy aimed at ensuring safety and smooth management of millions of pilgrims during Hajj.

Saudi authorities have also announced that April 18 (1st Dhul Qada) will be the final deadline for foreign Umrah pilgrims to leave the Kingdom.

Additionally, Umrah permits issued through the Nusuk platform will remain suspended from April 18 until May 31.

The new rules further prohibit all non-Hajj visa holders from entering or staying in Makkah during this period. Pilgrims can obtain Hajj permits digitally through the Absher platform and Muqeem portal.

The ministry has urged full compliance with the regulations, warning that strict action will be taken against violators to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims.
