PESCO Announces Schedule for Additional Hours of Load Shedding in Multiple Cities

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has announced that consumers across its service region will face additional hours of electricity outages over the next few days due to a shortfall in power generation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the utility said that, in addition to already scheduled load management, consumers may experience an extra two to three hours of outages as needed. The company described this as “forced load management,” implemented due to a significant decline in electricity generation.

PESCO attributed the situation mainly to the global economic crisis, which has led to a sharp rise in fuel prices as well as shortages. Since fuel is a key input for electricity generation, increasing costs and limited availability have negatively affected the overall power supply.

The utility also noted that feeders in categories 1, 2, and 3, which are typically exempt from load shedding and receive uninterrupted electricity, may also face outages of two to three hours during this period.

PESCO stated that the additional load management is a temporary measure and assured consumers that normal power supply will resume once electricity generation improves, and the balance between demand and supply is restored across the region.

Consumers can check the updated load shedding schedule on PESCO’s official website for area-wise outage timings.
