Government employees in Pakistan will get an extended weekend next month, with three consecutive holidays expected, while students are also likely to benefit from the long break. Private offices operating on a five-day work week will observe the extended weekend, whereas those following a six-day schedule will not get the three-day break.
According to the Cabinet Division’s official holiday schedule, May 1 has been declared a public holiday on account of Labour Day.
As the holiday falls on a Friday, it will be followed by the regular weekly holidays on Saturday and Sunday, resulting in a three-day break. Government offices operating on a five-day work week will observe three consecutive holidays during this period.
The Cabinet Division’s notification lists Labour Day among the public holidays for 2026, creating a continuous break for employees next month.
