The Punjab Government has made registration of pet dogs mandatory in both urban and rural areas, introducing new regulations to improve public safety and animal management.
Under the new policy, citizens keeping dogs at homes, farms, or in neighborhoods must submit complete details through an official registration form.
Owners are required to provide information, including their name, the dog’s breed, and other relevant particulars.
Authorities have also made vaccination of pet dogs compulsory. Citizens must get their animals vaccinated through the relevant livestock departments to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
In addition, the government has imposed a ban on allowing dogs to roam freely in public places.
Pet owners have been directed to keep their animals restrained to prevent potential risks, especially to children and the general public.
Officials warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who violate these rules. The measures aim to enhance public safety, control stray risks, and promote responsible pet ownership across the province.
