Local Cement Sales Up Over 11% in April After Big Drop in Exports

Cement dispatches increased by 11.14 percent in April 2026, with total industry dispatches reaching 3.890 million tons, compared to 3.500 million tons dispatched in the same month of the previous fiscal year.

According to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), local cement dispatches during April 2026 stood at 3.217 million tons, up 20.17 percent from 2.677 million tons recorded in April 2025.

Export dispatches, however, declined sharply by 18.22 percent, falling from 823,032 tons in April 2025 to 673,058 tons in April 2026.

North-based cement mills dispatched 2.662 million tons in domestic markets during April 2026, reflecting an increase of 18.25 percent compared to 2.251 million tons in April 2025. No exports were recorded from northern mills during the month. Total dispatches from North-based mills reached 2.662 million tons, showing an overall increase of 12.52 percent from 2.365 million tons a year earlier.

South-based mills dispatched 555,104 tons in local markets during April 2026, marking a 30.35 percent increase from 425,869 tons in April 2025. Export volumes from the South declined by 5.01 percent to 673,058 tons, compared with 708,565 tons in the same month last year. Total dispatches from southern mills stood at 1.228 million tons, up 8.26 percent from 1.134 million tons last year.

During the first ten months of the current fiscal year, total cement dispatches — including domestic sales and exports — reached 42.396 million tons, an increase of 9.83 percent compared with 38.600 million tons dispatched during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Domestic dispatches during this period totaled 34.785 million tons, rising 11.33 percent from 31.244 million tons last year. Export dispatches increased by 3.47 percent, reaching 7.611 million tons, compared with 7.355 million tons during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

North-based mills dispatched 29.014 million tons domestically during July 2025 to April 2026, showing a 12.56 percent increase over 25.778 million tons recorded in the same period last year.

Exports from northern mills declined significantly by 35.39 percent to 797,679 tons, compared with 1.234 million tons exported during the corresponding period last year. Total dispatches from North-based mills increased 10.36 percent to 29.812 million tons, compared with 27.012 million tons previously.

South-based mills dispatched 5.771 million tons domestically during the first ten months of the fiscal year, up 5.56 percent from 5.467 million tons last year. Export volumes from the South increased by 11.31 percent to 6.813 million tons, compared with 6.121 million tons in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Total dispatches from southern mills rose 8.60 percent to 12.584 million tons, compared with 11.587 million tons last year.

An APCMA spokesperson said the industry expects an improvement in the geopolitical environment in the coming weeks, which could strengthen the global economy and reduce energy uncertainty.

The association also expressed hope that industry-friendly policies in the upcoming federal budget would enhance competitiveness for cement manufacturers.
