Pakistan is likely to host South Korea in a four-match hockey series in the last week of June after the national team returns from its FIH Pro League tour of Europe.
According to national team head coach Manzoor-ul-Hasan Senior, negotiations between the Pakistan Hockey Federation and its South Korean counterpart are in the final stages. Under the proposed plan, two matches will be played in Lahore and two in Islamabad.
The announcement came on the opening day of Pakistan’s national training camp at the National Hockey Stadium ahead of the upcoming Pro League matches.
Pakistan will compete in the third leg of the Pro League in Belgium and England from June 13 to 27. The team is scheduled to face Belgium and Spain in Belgium before taking on England and India in England.
Pakistan is featuring in the Pro League for the first time since the tournament was launched in 2019. The team has so far lost all eight matches of the 2025-26 season, including defeats against Argentina and the Netherlands in Argentina, followed by losses to Australia and Germany in Australia.
Currently ranked 12th in the world, Pakistan was included in this season’s Pro League after New Zealand, ranked 11th, withdrew from the competition due to financial constraints.
Despite the difficult start, facing top-ranked teams such as the Netherlands, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Spain, England, and India is expected to provide valuable international exposure and help improve Pakistan’s performance in the long run.
Following the Pro League campaign, Pakistan will participate in the 16-team Hockey World Cup from August 15 to 30 in Belgium and the Netherlands, marking the Green Shirts’ return to the tournament after an eight-year absence.
