Higher Education Commission (HEC) has introduced a financial incentive package for universities under its newly launched online degree attestation system aimed at speeding up document verification and improving efficiency.
According to a letter issued to universities across the country, institutions completing verification of academic documents within 24 hours will receive Rs. 500 per document from HEC.
Universities verifying documents within 48 hours will be paid Rs. 300 per document, while verification completed within 72 hours or later will carry a payment of Rs. 100 per document.
HEC Chairman Niaz Ahmad Akhtar said the new system has been introduced to make the attestation process fully digital, transparent, secure, and easier for applicants.
Under the revised mechanism, applicants can now submit attestation requests online without visiting HEC offices or sending original academic documents through courier services.
The HEC chairman said e attestation certificates will also be issued digitally and verified online under the new paperless system. However, the notification does not specify any penalties or action against universities that fail to verify documents within the required timeframe due to delays or negligence.
