The government has made significant progress on the Sapphire Soda Ash Production Project.
Under the initiative, 2.7 cusecs of water have been allocated from the Mohajir Canal in Khushab, ensuring the project’s operational viability and paving the way for increased domestic soda ash production.
Soda ash is a key industrial raw material used in a range of industries, including glass, detergents, textiles and chemicals. Increased local production is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s industrial base, reduce reliance on imports and improve supply chain stability.
The project is also expected to support the development of a more competitive industrial economy by enhancing domestic manufacturing capacity and creating employment opportunities.
The initiative will contribute positively to economic growth and industrial development while supporting import substitution in a sector that remains dependent on foreign supplies.
