Peshawar Zalmi Owner Explains Why He Continues to Trust Babar Azam

Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi has once again publicly backed Babar Azam, praising the star batter’s fighting spirit, consistency, and commitment after the franchise won the Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) title under his captaincy.

Afridi made the remarks during a question-and-answer session on Instagram, where a fan asked him why he has trust in Babar Azam.

Responding to the question, Afridi said, “I have full trust in Babar Azam because he’s a real fighter; classy, consistent, and someone who genuinely loves Pakistan with all his heart.”

The Peshawar Zalmi owner also praised Babar Azam’s hard work and commitment, saying the Pakistan batter has repeatedly proved himself through his performances for the national side.

“Right from the day we signed him for Peshawar Zalmi, I saw his dedication, that nonstop hard work, and how he always rises to the big moments,” Afridi said.

Javed Afridi further added that Babar Azam has delivered for both his team and Pakistan, while also showing the mental strength needed to handle pressure and criticism.

“He’s delivered again and again for the team and the country. Sure, there are ups and downs in cricket, but Babar has that true champion mindset, he always comes back stronger,” he added.

The comments come after a successful PSL 11 campaign for Peshawar Zalmi, who defeated Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets in the final at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The victory secured Peshawar Zalmi’s second PSL trophy and gave Babar Azam his first T20 title as captain.

Babar Azam was one of the standout performers of the tournament and finished as the highest run-scorer in PSL 11. His most important knock came in the qualifier against Islamabad United, where he scored 103 runs and helped Peshawar Zalmi reach the final with a 70-run win.

The title win also carried major importance for Babar Azam’s leadership career, as he had faced repeated criticism over his captaincy in recent years. However, PSL 11 gave him a strong response on the field, both as a batter and as captain.
