Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has issued special instructions to relevant departments and district administrations to provide relief to the public amid intense heat and ongoing heatwave conditions.
She directed authorities to arrange shade and temporary shelters at major intersections, public places, and markets in every city so citizens can get some protection from the extreme weather.
The chief minister also ordered the availability of cold drinking water, fans, and air coolers at wagon stands, bus terminals, and railway stations. Similar arrangements have also been ordered for people visiting government offices.
Maryam Nawaz urged citizens to avoid going outdoors unnecessarily during extreme heat and hot winds, while stressing the need to take special care of women, elderly people, and children.
Instructions have also been issued for summer camps in educational institutions, with authorities told to ensure proper arrangements of cold water, fans, and air coolers for students and teachers.
In addition, traffic police have been directed not to stop motorcyclists unnecessarily in harsh sunlight. Officials have been specifically told to avoid making riders wait in the heat, especially when women, children, or families are travelling on motorcycles.
The directives come as Punjab continues to face severe summer conditions, with authorities under pressure to take practical steps to reduce public exposure to extreme heat.
