The government has approved the abolition of taxes on contraceptives to promote family planning and improve access to reproductive health services across Pakistan.
The decision comes as Pakistan remains the world’s fifth most populous country, with its population continuing to grow rapidly.
Officials said the move will make contraceptives more affordable, encourage responsible family planning, and help raise public awareness about population management.
The government believes easier access to family planning products will support maternal and child health, reduce economic pressures on families, and contribute to sustainable development.
