Pump Owners Demand Govt to Change Petrol Prices Monthly, Not Weekly

Petrol pump owners in Pakistan have urged the federal government to replace the current weekly fuel pricing mechanism with a monthly revision system.

According to the petroleum dealers’ association, weekly price adjustments have made business planning unpredictable. This has disrupted inventory management, cash flow, and overall retail operations across the country.

The association said a monthly pricing framework would provide greater stability in the fuel market, allowing dealers to better manage supplies while also reducing uncertainty for consumers.

They added that a fixed monthly review cycle could improve predictability in pricing trends, benefiting both retailers and end users through more consistent planning conditions.

The dealers have called for an urgent review of the existing pricing structure.

Warning of possible nationwide protests if their concerns are ignored, the association said any escalation in tensions would be the responsibility of the relevant authorities.
