Pakistan Star Batter Doubtful for Test Series Against West Indies

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is racing against time to regain full fitness ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies, scheduled to begin next month.

Mohammad Rizwan is currently attending Pakistan’s red-ball training camp at the National Cricket Academy, which started on June 8 and will continue until July 10. However, the experienced batter reportedly joined the camp a week later than planned and has been undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of the team’s medical staff.

Due to his ongoing recovery, Rizwan has not yet taken part in regular training activities or practice sessions.

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical team is expected to assess his fitness on July 6, with the evaluation likely to decide whether he will be available for the Caribbean tour.

Pakistan are expected to depart for the West Indies on July 13. The team will also play a four-day warm-up match from July 18 before the start of the Test series.

If Mohammad Rizwan is unable to recover in time, wicketkeepers Ghazi Ghori and Rohail Nazir are likely to be considered as possible replacements in the touring squad.

Mohammad Rizwan has been Pakistan’s most reliable performer in Test cricket over the last few years. In his previous 15 Test matches, he has scored 1,157 runs, including one century and nine half-centuries, making him Pakistan’s leading run-scorer in the format during that period.

The two-match Test series will be played in Trinidad and Tobago. The first Test is scheduled from July 25 to 29, while the second Test will take place from August 2 to 6.
