NEPRA Approves Salary Increase and Bonus for Employees

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved a salary increase, performance increments, and a reduced bonus for employees of the Central Power Purchasing Agency (Guarantee) Limited (CPPA-G) for the fiscal year 2025-26.

Under its latest decision, Nepra approved a total salary increase of 10.49%, including a 4.49% inflation adjustment and an average 6% performance increment.

The regulator approved employee salary expenses of Rs1.585 billion and benefits worth Rs249 million.

While CPPA-G requested bonuses equivalent to 1.5 gross salaries, Nepra approved a bonus equal to one basic salary, amounting to Rs55.64 million.

The regulator also allowed staffing costs for 26 existing employees but ruled that future recruitment would require separate approval.

Nepra significantly reduced several operational expenses proposed by CPPA-G, including administrative, training, IT, maintenance and consultancy costs.

It also rejected spending on environmental, social and governance (ESG) activities, stating that such expenses should not be passed on to electricity consumers.

The regulator said the approved budget balances CPPA-G’s operational requirements with the need to protect consumers from unnecessary costs while ensuring the efficient functioning of Pakistan’s power market.
