The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has restrained the National Highway Authority (NHA) from collecting additional toll charges from motorists over non M-Tag use and insufficient M-Tag balance until the next hearing.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir issued the interim order while hearing a petition challenging the NHA’s notification imposing a 50 percent additional toll on vehicles without an M-Tag and on those with insufficient balance in their M-Tag accounts.
The court suspended the notification until the next hearing, preventing the NHA from collecting the additional charges until August 3.
The IHC also issued notices to the National Highway Authority and other respondents, directing them to submit their replies. Advocate Muhammad Jalal Haider represented the petitioner before the court.
