Govt Approves 70km Extension of Murree Expressway

The federal government has decided to extend the Murree Expressway by 70 kilometers to Muzaffarabad as part of efforts to improve road connectivity and provide modern transport facilities to the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The decision was taken during a special meeting of the National Highway Authority (NHA) chaired by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan.

The minister said the Muzaffarabad Expressway will offer residents of Azad Kashmir travel facilities similar to those available on the Murree Expressway, making journeys safer, faster, and more convenient.

During the meeting, Abdul Aleem Khan directed the NHA to prioritize the completion of ongoing development projects before starting new ones. He also instructed the authority to complete 25 priority projects during the current fiscal year.

Abdul Aleem Khan also said he wants to transform the NHA into an organization capable of generating Rs. 300 billion to Rs. 400 billion in annual revenue.
