Pakistan cricketers Usman Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem are set to represent Perth Scorchers XI in the upcoming Global Super League (GSL 2026) in Guyana.
The wicketkeeper-batter and the left-arm wrist-spinner have been named in the Scorchers’ squad for the tournament, marking another overseas franchise opportunity for the Pakistani duo.
Both players have already received their No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Pakistan Cricket Board to take part in the league.
Usman Khan’s inclusion gives Perth another batting and wicketkeeping option, while Sufiyan Muqeem adds variety to the bowling attack with his left-arm wrist spin. According to Perth Scorchers’ squad announcement, both players complete the squad and bring valuable white-ball international experience.
Usman Khan has become a regular part of Pakistan’s T20I setup since making his debut in 2024. The 31-year-old has played 38 T20 internationals and also scored a half-century in one of Pakistan’s three wins over Australia in the T20 series earlier this year.
Sufiyan Muqeem has also impressed in the shorter format, taking 27 wickets in 19 T20Is at an average of 14.74. His record also includes a remarkable 5 for 3 against Zimbabwe in 2024.
The Scorchers will be led by Ashton Turner, with a strong squad that includes several notable names such as Ashton Agar, Aaron Hardie, Jhye Richardson, D’Arcy Short, Mark Chapman, Akeal Hosein, Dian Forrester, and Ackeem Auguste.
Perth Scorchers earned their place in the GSL 2026 after winning the previous Big Bash League title. The tournament will be played from July 23 to August 1, with all matches scheduled at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
The five-team competition will feature Perth Scorchers XI, Lahore Qalandars, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Desert Vipers, and San Francisco Unicorns, with a total prize pool of US$1 million.
Perth will begin its campaign against Lahore Qalandars on July 23, giving Pakistani fans an immediate high-interest clash to follow.
