Punjab Announces New Electric Buses for 14 Districts

The Punjab government has announced the deployment of new electric buses across 14 districts by the end of July 2026 as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the province’s public transport system.

Under the plan, 10 electric buses each will be deployed in Chiniot, Layyah, Okara, and Sialkot. Meanwhile, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Multan will each receive 12 new electric buses.

Additionally, 11 electric buses each will be deployed in Murree, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Vehari, Kasur, Lodhran, Nankana Sahib, and Narowal by the end of the month.

The Punjab government also announced that 488 additional electric buses are expected to arrive in Pakistan by the end of August 2026. Once delivered, they will be introduced in various districts to further expand and strengthen the province’s electric public transport network.

According to the government, billions of rupees have been allocated under the Annual Development Program (ADP) to support the development of modern transport infrastructure and improve public transportation across Punjab.
