A property dispute in Karachi took a shocking turn after police said a man was allegedly murdered in a plot arranged by his own son for just Rs. 15,000 and an iPhone.
The case surfaced in the Ibrahim Hyderi area, where police are now investigating the killing of Iqbal, who was shot dead on June 23. Authorities say the murder was linked to a long-running dispute over property within the family.
Police had earlier arrested the victim’s son, Ejaz, along with his friend Shiraz, for their alleged involvement in the case. Investigators said Ejaz allegedly persuaded Shiraz to carry out the murder by offering him cash and an iPhone.
In the latest development, police have also arrested Jamshed, another son of the victim, making him the third suspect in the case. According to investigators, Jamshed confessed that he allowed the murder plan to go ahead because their father had allegedly subjected Ejaz to physical abuse.
During the probe, police recovered the weapon allegedly used in the murder as well as the motorcycle believed to have been used in the crime.
The case has drawn attention because of the disturbing motive and the small amount police say was offered for the killing. Authorities say further investigation is underway to determine the full background of the murder and the role of each suspect.
